Our world is an amazing place. With some incredible sights, from ancient empires to modern architecture (and everything in-between), we are lucky to have so much beauty around us.
So we have been doing our research here at Great Little Breaks and have found the most visited cities in the world (listed in no particular order). It's no wonder that these cities are on the list, and you'll see why.
There is so much to see and do in London; it is known as one of the most exciting cities in the world. It is a hub of activity, and home to major sights such as the Tower of London, the London Eye, and Buckingham Palace. With over 10 million visitors per year, and hundreds of notable attractions, it's no wonder London is a thriving city. No matter what your interests are, you're guaranteed to find something here.
Renowned for being one of the most romantic cities in the world, Paris is a must on this list (and on our travel bucket list). Home to attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Louvre, Paris attracts millions of visitors per year. Not only is this beautiful city well known for its famous attractions, Paris boasts fantastic architecture, grand boulevards, cafes, bistros and brassieres.
Whether you've seen it in film, heard about it in songs, or been there yourself, New York is definitely known as one of the most visited cities in the world. New York boasts a restless and energetic culture that reflects in sports, shopping, arts, restaurants, and history- no wonder they call it the city that never sleeps. With all of these attractions, as well popular landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, Empire States Building, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York definitely gets a place on the list.
This famous city has something for everyone; from the culture hunters to the beach seekers- you'll find it all in here. Sydney is home to several world-famous attractions, including the Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, and Bondi beach. Whether you?re in Sydney for business or pleasure, this city is a must see.
The second American city on our list, San Francisco is another world-famous destination- and one of the most visited cities in the world. Known as the cultural centre of Northern California, San Francisco boasts attractions such as the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the AT&T Park- one of the most popular baseball venues in America and home to the Giants. No matter what you?re looking for, San Francisco has it all.
Most widely known for its rich history and culture, Rome is high on the list of most visited cities wherever you look. Its history spans thousands of years, from the legendary Roman Empire, to the thriving Italian capital of arts, fashion, and culture it is today. Whether you are visiting for a short time, or taking a long holiday, you are guaranteed to learn something new. Attractions include the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and Saint Peter's Basilica- and that's only the short list.
Not only is Tokyo the capital of Japan, but it is also the centre of the Great Tokyo area, and the most populated metropolitan area in the world. Another city with a vast history, Tokyo is Japan's cultural and political centre. Tokyo is home to the Tokyo Tower, the Imperial Palace, the National Olympic Stadium, and The National Art Centre.
