We love all our partner hotels here at Great Little Breaks, and we love it even more when they have some fantastic news. The Granary Hotel near Kidderminster has an update for us, and we wanted to share it with you!
The Granary Hotel in Worcestershire is set in a beautiful area of countryside yet gets the best of both worlds, with the market town of Kidderminster, and the exciting city of Birmingham both within easy reach. This award-winning hotel holds a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence 2014, and a 2 AA Rosette for its excellent restaurant.
The hotel offers comfortable and contemporary rooms, with two fantastic executive suites available. Many of the rooms enjoy pleasant views whilst all are quite with a range of quality facilities. After a long day of shopping, a stroll in the surrounding countryside, or even after a relaxing day doing whatever you choose, you'll like nothing more than to rest in one of these comfortable beds.
The newly refurbished restaurant at The Granary Hotel- The Kitchen- is proud to have been awarded a two AA Rosette for the last four years, and well known for being the choice restaurant in the local area. With a reputation built on quality cuisine, it's no wonder this hotel is recognised for its outstanding food, atmosphere, and chefs. Mouth watering cuisine is served throughout the day, with a daytime carvery and a la carte dining famously topping the menus. 'The Kitchen' offers a live kitchen experience, with fresh food prepared in front of your very eyes, such as Slow Roasted Lamb, Pan Fried Duck, Roast Mediterranean Vegetable Soup, and Vanilla Creme Brule.
The Granary hotel is set within spacious grounds, and has always had surrounding areas of land that, for the most part, were fallow and used for occasional grazing. After a discussions with the local authorities, the hotel offered plans to put this great resource to a better use- a market garden to grow fruit and vegetables! Not only did this space become an excellent source for the hotel's restaurant, the garden became a training facility for many young people with learning disabilities from the Worcestershire area. With many people contributing to its completion, including designer Richard Maw, the market garden at The Granary now have various areas for growing fresh produce, a large shed and poly tunnels for the training purposes.
"From bare fields to a mature garden with attitude!" - The Granary Website.
And, if that wasn't enough, the hotel is also starting their very own Orchard! Although this venture is very young at the moment, the hotel already has a range of Cherry trees, Pears trees, and Apple trees. Not only does the hotel hope to see growth in their orchard, they hope to launch their own vineyard in 2015 to start selling wine. The vineyard itself contains Pinot Noir Vines which adapt well to the more Northern Climate and should in time produce White or Rose wine.
