Finally, after a long and gruelling winter, spring is on its way. Say goodbye to the awful weather, say goodbye to the short hours of daylight, and say hello to the lovely season and all the wonderful things it brings with it.
This week we will be promoting our spring offers just for our dedicated readers, as well as giving you something a little extra.
Thistle Brands Hatch, Dartford, Kent:
Surrounded by 500 acres of the Kent countryside, Thistle Brands Hatch is the ideal destination for both city and rural retreats. This modern hotel is within easy reach of the city of London, whilst taking you away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Facilities include 121 bedrooms, executive rooms, a purpose-built training floor with 15 meeting rooms, free on-site parking, a bar and restaurant, and a health and leisure club which includes a gym, indoor swimming pool, and sauna. With excellent transport connections, this Thistle hotel is within easy reach of London Heathrow and Gatwick airports, the Channel Tunnel and the new Euro-star terminal at Ebbsfleet.
The town of Dartford, Kent lies on the border between Kent and Greater London, and despite being one of the smallest regions in the country; there is still plenty to do in the Dartford area. Whether it's a family day out, a museum tour, or a leisurely walk in the countryside, Dartford has something for everyone.
Perhaps the most popular of attractions in the area is the Brands Hatch race circuit, which hosts a year-round program of local, national, & international races for cars, bikes, and even trucks. There has been a race track at Brands Hatch since 1926, when the land was first used for grass track bike racing. This race circuit has hosted Grand Prixs, Superbike championships, and road cycling events in its time, and has drivers such as Jenson Button and Mark Webber take to the tarmac.
There is plentiful countryside around the town of Dartford, perfect for those of you who love the peace of the outdoors. The Darneth Country Park opens this spring from 9am until half an hour before sunset, and has a lot to offer visitors. Opened as part of the millennium celebrations, it is home to a scheduled ancient monument, as it was once used as a Saxon burial ground. The park is listed as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, with meadows of wild flowers and a spread of pasture for grazing. It sits on the edge of the North Downs, overlooking the Darent Valley and gives some wonderful views across the local countryside.
If you want something to do with the kids, then the Riverside Country Park could be the one for you. With plenty of sea-side attractions only a short car ride away, Dartford is perfectly situated for a day at the beach. The Riverside Country Park sits at the mouth of the Medway at Gillingham and is a favourite for bird watchers and nature lovers alike. With some lovely areas for children to play, plenty of spots for picnics, and lots of walking routes, a visit to this country park is a great one for the family.
Another one for the whole family is the Eagle Heights Bird of Prey Centre. It stands as one of the UKs largest Bird of Prey Centres, with a collection of around 150 raptors. Enjoy the spectacular views across the valley, while being entertained as eagles, hawks and falcons are flown in regular outside displays. The Eagle Heights Centre is also an expanding wildlife park for with many different species of animals, including meerkats, snakes, lizards, and cheetahs.
Spring is on its way! All of these attractions will be open for spring and all the details are available on their websites.
