How to Spend a Day in the Sun

Posted on May 19, 2014 by Admin

No one can deny that summer is definitely on its way. After a cold winter and mild weather in early spring, the sun has finally made an appearance. So, how do you spend a day in the sun?

The wonderful warm weather does different things to different people. Some of us want to be outside all day, some enjoy the shade, some enjoy a swimming pool and others retreat from the rays for the cool embrace of the indoors.

Here at Great Little Breaks, we are definitely fans of this warmer weather, so we've compiled a list of our favourite things to do on a sunny day- both indoors and out.

Enjoy a lazy morning- there's nothing better than a long lie in and a lazy morning, but why not make it better with a gentle breeze, sunshine streaming through the curtains, and summer fruits for breakfast in bed.

Escape to the country- getting outside this season is a definite must for some people, so why not take the time to explore? Go somewhere you've never been before, take a stroll down new country lanes, and enjoy nature at its best.

Eat some frozen treats- ice-cream or an ice-lolly on a hot day is the cherry on top of the cake (or the flake on top the Mr. Whippy). You could even go one better and make some of your own!

Take a picnic in the park- this is a fun, easy, and great idea for a warm day. Grab some nibbles, find a rug, and spend the day lying out in the sun.

Take time to pamper and relax- a great one for staying indoors; having a pamper day can make you feel very refreshed. The warm weather puts some people in a sleepy mood, so make the most of it with some relaxation time.

Get some exercise- it's already hot, so why not take it to the next level. The bright sunshine can makes some people spring into action. Take a long bike ride, play some tennis, or organise a football match- whatever you choose, it's fun, gets you outside and it gets you active.

Go to the beach- a bit of an obvious one, but unless you live by the coast, it can be quite a treat. Make sure you grab the sun-tan-lotion, and don't forget your swimming costumes, then head out for a fun day out enjoying the sun, sea, and sand.

Take to the water- water activities are not only great fun, but they're a great way to cool off. Whether you're going for a dip in your local swimming pool, surfing on the breaking waves or sailing on nearby lake, water attractions are a great way to spend a day in the sun.

Visit large gardens- this is the best time to visit estates with beautiful gardens. Not only will you be soaking up the rays, but you'll also get to see nature at its best with beautiful displays, varied colours, and plants of all shapes and sizes.

Go to the zoo- you won't be the only ones enjoying the sunshine! Going to the zoo during on a sunny day is a great day to see more of the exotic animals - plus it's always a fun day out!
