Holiday In The UK
Posted on June 19, 2014 by Admin
Typically during the summer months, many people decide that they want to head to an exotic paradise and enjoy a week away. They will book their flights, pack their bags, and make the long journey to a hot country with fantastic beaches (to be slightly stereotypical).
In the last few years, this has begun to change. More and more people are taking the occasional overseas holiday (and by occasional, we mean every few years), and instead deciding to have various 'staycasions'. A little confused?
The idea of a 'staycation' is to stay in the UK rather than take a holiday abroad. Many people in the UK are now choosing to take various short breaks throughout the year rather than one big expensive holiday during the summer.
Not only is this becoming popular amongst Brits, this is also become very good for our economy. The 'staycation' trend is actually causing a boost in our economy- even more than you might expect. For several years in a row this has grown and now contributes billions of pounds to the UK economy.
Destinations for the most popular 'staycasions' include areas such as London, Cornwall, the Lake District, and the Scottish Highlands. And it's no wonder that Brits flock to an area such as Cornwall when the temperatures there can compete with those in Athens, Barcelona, and Rome, as in May earlier this year.
So, why spend potentially thousands of pounds abroad when you can lie in the sun getting equally tanned in a UK hotspot? Plus, instead of one holiday, why not have several?
Here at Great Little Breaks, we love what the UK has to offer, and we love the 'staycation' trend!
