Customer Rating: Mr Mole, Bedford

Customer Rating: Ms Fletcher, Harrow Excellent staff but each trying to cover too many jobs, how they did it with such cheeriness is a mystery to me. Good hotel but could be excellent. Lovely building and setting close to local attractions.

Customer Rating: Mrs Lynch, Darlington Overall this break with the "all-inclusive" pack offered good value for money taking into account the cost of meals and drinks in the hotel. The place has lots of quirky character in the old parts of the hotel which is nice but the lack of a user-friendly shower (i.e. one with a screen or curtain and some means of fixing) in the bathroom was a minus point for us as my husband is unable to sit in a bath because of back problems.

Customer Rating: Mrs Hannam, Brighouse Lovely weekend away at this hotel with family. Loved the really old fashioned feel to the place and its history

Customer Rating: Mr Holden, Bury

Customer Rating: Mr Moore, Atherstone

Customer Rating: Mrs Parry Valeron, Basingstoke The majority of staff were great, especially polly, Cathy (restaurant), Lauren (reception). The food was fabulous and the dining room amazing. The bar area lacked character comparatively and the air con smelt really bad-looking st the unit may need a refurb! We tried 3 rooms and although they looked wonderful (bar a few cosmetic issues), all had problems-first room, the bedside lights, tv didn't work and smelt bad, the second was against the staircase so very noisy and also room above creaked like mad when walked on. Third room was again ok but had no shower screen and again creaking from movement above. Having said this would love to come back with my daughters.

Customer Rating: Mrs Day, Saffron Walden

Customer Rating: Mr bennett, cheshire Most of the staff were excellent, particularly Lesley in the restaurant and also the chef. He went out of his way to cope with my food allergy. The only down side was the mattress (room 23). It should have been thrown out years ago!
