Customer Rating: Mr Rhodes, Kendal I was a little concerned on arrival to see the size of the hotel and that rather than a country house it was a large conference hotel. With 150 rooms, largely in new build it is the largest hotel we have stayed in. Admittedly it is based on the country house and there are nice characterful public rooms near the front. Having said all that, our stay there far exceeded my expectations. The room was large and very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the food was excellent, very tasty and all cooked to perfection. So good that we chose to eat in the hotel again on our second night. Breakfast was enormous and with more choice than I think we have had anywhere. All offered from a buffet island. A large range of cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, cold meats and a choice of dozen different cooked items. The most memorable part of our stay however, was the staff. Each one we came in to contact with was cheerful, friendly and helpful. Even those we simply walked past on the corridors made a point of smiling and saying hello. It made a large hotel feel quite homely and welcoming.
